The first thing I did this morning was make coffee. I don't remember a day in my family of origin where the first thing my Mom did wasn't make the morning coffee.
I know many of the children who enter our home come with childhood memories. Some of them are pretty horrific. I find myself wanting to judge the situation based on my own values and interpretations. This isn't helpful for long-term healing. Our job is working hard to create an environment of safety where healing can begin.
